More than 10 padel clubs operate in Riga right now, and new ones keep opening. Padel — a racket sport that combines elements of tennis and squash — has become the fastest-growing sport in Latvia. Court rental in Riga ranges from €20 to €40 per hour, and most clubs offer equipment rental and lessons for beginners. This guide covers every club, prices, locations, and practical tips before your first match.

Why has padel become so popular in Latvia?
Padel is an easy-to-learn sport suitable for any age and skill level — most people can play full rallies after their first lesson. Games are always played in pairs (2 vs. 2), making it inherently social and ideal for friend groups or team events.
A standard padel court measures 10 × 20 meters, enclosed by glass and metal walls. Unlike tennis, the ball can be played off the walls — creating dynamic, strategic rallies where tactics matter as much as physical strength. Padel rackets are compact, stringless, with a perforated surface that gives natural shot control.
In Spain, padel is the second most popular sport after football. In Latvia, the sport began developing around 2020, and since then the number of clubs has grown from one to more than ten in the Riga region alone.

What to know before your first padel match?
Padel is one of the most beginner-friendly sports — after a 15-minute introduction most people can play full rallies. No prior experience in tennis or other racket sports is needed.
Clothing and shoes. Wear sports shoes with non-slip soles (ideally — dedicated padel or tennis shoes). Sportswear — comfortable shorts and a T-shirt. Most clubs have changing rooms and showers available.
Equipment. If you don't own a racket and balls, all Riga clubs offer equipment rental (usually €5). For your first matches, a rented racket is more than enough — investing in your own racket is worth it once you've decided you actually enjoy the sport.
Number of players. Padel is played on a standard court by 4 people (2 vs. 2). Some clubs also offer singles courts for smaller groups. If you don't have partners, you can join open matches in the Playtomic app.
Basic rules. Serves are underhand (below waist level). The ball must bounce on the floor first before it can hit a wall. Scoring follows tennis rules (15, 30, 40, game). A match consists of sets, and sets — of games.
Going deeper into technique: if you want to dive into padel strokes, racket selection, and the most common beginner mistakes, see our detailed guide Padel for beginners: technique, equipment, and tips for your first match.

How to book a padel court in Riga?
Most Riga padel clubs use Playtomic — a mobile app that lets you book a court in minutes. Download Playtomic from the App Store or Google Play, create a profile, and choose a club, date, and time. Payment goes through the app with a card. Some clubs use their own app — for example, MOSH Club bookings go through their own app, which you can download from mosh.club/app.
Follow the club on Playtomic (tap the heart icon) to see all available time slots and special offers. Some clubs also accept reservations by phone or WhatsApp.
Tips for popular time slots: If you want to play on a weekday evening or weekend morning, book at least 2-3 days in advance. Morning hours (before 12:00) on weekdays are usually open and cheaper.

What else to try if you love active recreation in Latvia?
If you're a padel fan and like trying new things, Latvia has many other thrilling activities. Most of them are also available as gift cards — a perfect surprise for a sporty friend or colleague.
Tandem skydiving. If you enjoy the adrenaline and team spirit of padel, a tandem skydive is the next level. Skydive Latvia offers a tandem jump from 4,000 m altitude for €249 — about 60 seconds of freefall at around 200 km/h. No prior experience required — you jump alongside a certified instructor. The airfield is in Limbaži, about an hour from Riga.
Oxygen Jump from 5,500 m. The highest civilian tandem skydive in Eastern Europe. Around 90 seconds of freefall with a supplemental oxygen mask — €490. An experience you won't find anywhere else in the region.
Other active options: indoor karting (Kartings.lv, from ~€18), bobsled in Sigulda (lnsc.lv, from €3), Aerodium wind tunnel, or kayaking on the Gauja in summer. Latvia's active recreation offerings have expanded significantly in recent years.
A gift card is a great way to give any of these experiences. Skydive Latvia gift cards are available from €30 and have no expiration date — the recipient picks their own time.
